<br />"(a) (1) <br /> <br />For each day during which the use of overnight <br />living accommodations is required, the actual <br />cost of such accommodation plus a per diem <br />allowance in the amount of thirty-five dollars <br />($35.00) per day for living expenses exèlusive <br />of the actual cost of such accommodations. <br /> <br />" (2) <br /> <br />For each day during which the use of overnight <br />living accommodations is not required, actual <br />living expenses (including, but not necessarily <br />limited to, meals, transportation at destination, <br />incidentals, and actual living expenses incurred <br />in travel to and from destination but excluding <br />registration fees and the transportation expenses <br />provided for in subsection (b) hereof). <br /> <br />" (b) <br /> <br />Actual transportation expenses to and from destina- <br />tion not to exceed a maximum computed at fifteen <br />cents ($0.15) per mile for miles actually traveled <br />outside the city by carrier service or any privately- <br />owned conveyance; provided, however, that for travel <br />to and from destination in excess of three hundred <br />(300) miles said maximum shall not exceed actual air <br />coach fare when such fare is less than the amount <br />computed at the aforesaid rate." <br /> <br />SECTION 3. <br /> <br />Section 23.2 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />The provisions of this chapter, and the <br /> <br />"Section 23.2. <br /> <br />competitive service or merit system established and administered <br /> <br />hereunder, shall apply to all offices, positions and employments <br /> <br />in the service of the city except the following, to which <br /> <br />said provisions, service, or system shall not apply except, <br /> <br />and to the extent otherwise, or to the contrary, expressly <br /> <br />provided: <br /> <br />"(a) <br /> <br />Elective offices or positions. <br /> <br />" (b) <br /> <br />Positions of appointive boards, commissions and <br />committees. <br /> <br />"(c) <br /> <br />The positions of: <br /> <br />City Manager <br />Assistant City Manager <br />Director of Personnel <br />Secretary to the City Manager <br />City Attorney <br />Assistant City Attorney II <br />Assistant City Attorney I <br />Director of Finance (holding consolidated <br />offices of City Auditor, City Assessor, <br />City Treasurer, and City Collector) <br />City Building Official <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />-2- <br />
