6.2.A. - Page 4 <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY DESIGNATING THE EVENT ROUTE AND APPROVING THE <br />TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE FOR THE STANFORD UNIVERSITY <br />TRIATHLON TEAM'S 14th "TREEATHLON" EVENT <br />WHEREAS, because of the impact that special events have on City streets and <br />traffic when a full or partial street closure is required for such a special event, the City <br />Council of the City of Redwood City finds that it is crucial that any such routes be <br />thoroughly reviewed and analyzed to enable careful planning of such special events in <br />order to minimize impacts to the general public where such street closures are permitted; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, California Vehicle Code Section 21101(e) authorizes the City to <br />temporarily close a portion of any street for a local special event when the local authority <br />determines the closure is necessary for the safety and protection of persons who are to <br />use that portion of the street during the temporary closing; and <br />WHEREAS, after thorough review, analysis, and planning the City Council does <br />hereby establish the following necessary partial street closure for the Stanford University <br />Triathlon Team's 14th Annual "Treeathlon" event; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The Stanford University Triathlon Team's "Treeathlon" event route is hereby <br />established as shown by the map attached hereto as Exhibit "A". <br />2. On Saturday, March 3rd, 2018, the loop at the easterly end of Seaport Blvd., <br />that encompasses the Pacific Shores business complex, will be partially closed to <br />vehicular traffic from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m in order to allow the "Saplingathlon" portion of <br />Stanford University's "Treeathlon" to occur. <br />3. On Sunday, March 4th, 2018, Seaport Blvd. between Blomquist St. and the <br />easterly end of Seaport Blvd. will be partially closed to vehicular traffic from 6:00 a.m. to <br />3:00 p.m. in order to allow the triathlon portion of Stanford University's "Treeathlon" to <br />occur. <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />ATTY/RESO.0012/CC RESO STANFORD UNIVERSITY TRIATHLON <br />REV: 02-15-18 MI <br />
