7. <br /> <br /> August 5, 2002 <br /> <br /> Subject <br /> Final Acceptance - 2001-2002 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project <br /> Engineering File No. 806-02 <br /> <br /> Recommendation <br /> Accept the 2001-2002 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, and authorize the release of <br /> payment bond and retention. <br /> <br /> Background <br /> As part of the continuous Pavement Management Program, approximately 140,000 <br /> square yards of roadway were resurfaced with Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal. <br /> <br /> On June 3, 2002, the City Council awarded the construction contract for 2001-2002 <br /> Asphalt Rubber chip Seal Project to Westem States Surfacing, Inc. of Modesto, <br /> California for their Iow bid of $416,832.82 <br /> <br /> The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br /> specifications for a total cost of $415,428.04. One change order adjustment was <br /> issued at a total credit of $1,404.78, which represents an 0.34% decrease of the <br /> original bid price of $416,832.82. This change order was for adjustment to the final <br /> quantities. ' <br /> <br /> Alternative <br /> Do not accept the 2001-2002 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, which would be <br /> contrary to prior Council Action. <br /> <br /> Fiscal Impacts <br /> Funds in the amount of $1.2 million were appropriated in the 2001-2002 Capital <br /> Improvement Program budget as part of the Gas Tax Construction and Transportation <br /> (Measure "A") Funds for the Roadway Management Program. <br /> <br /> M.
