7. I-Gl

August 5, 2002

Subject
Agreement for Professional Amhitectural Design Services with Winges Architects to
provide design services for the Public Works Services Warehouse Offices Project.

Recommendation
Approve and authorize execution of an agreement with Winges Architects, of
Burlingame, California, for providing Professional Architectural Design Services for
furnishing Construction Documents and other design engineering services for the
Public Works Services Warehouse Offices Project at the Municipal Services Center
building (MSC), in an amount not to exceed $64,000.

Background
The existing Warehouse at the MSC (1400 Broadway) has outdated office space that
needs to be upgraded to support three employees, and a new conference room. The
current spaces are inefficient and outdated.

The work will include:
adding a new HVAC system;
electrical and lighting modifications;
creating three new office spaces;
a new conference room, and
a new enclosed corridor.

Work will also address ADA issues regarding the entrance to the new spaces from the
main entrance. Winges Architects has worked with the City in past and designed
improvements and modifications to the MSC in earlier phases of remodeling. Because
of their prior experience, knowledge of the facility and successful working relationship
with the City, Winges was asked to submit a proposal for designing the modifications to
the Warehouse.

The firm of Winges Architects has submitted a proposal to furnish architectural design
services for modifying the existing space in the Municipal Services Center Warehouse,
in an amount not to exceed $64,000.
