I-HI <br /> <br />August 5, 2002 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Agreement for Professional Amhitectural Design Services with William Fisher <br />Amhitecture, Inc. for providing architectural design services for the Remodel of <br />Schaberg Library. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Approve and authorize execution of an agreement with William Fisher Architecture, Inc. <br />of Santa Cruz, California, for providing Professional Architectural Design Services for <br />furnishing Construction Documents and other design engineering services for the <br />Remodel of Schaberg Library in an amount not to exceed $54,000. <br /> <br />Background <br />Schaberg Library does not currently meet ADA standards and this project will provide a <br />ramp and/or elevator to gain access to the building to the physically challenged; <br />upgrade the bathroom facilities to meet ADA requirements; renovate the front counter, <br />and any other work necessary to modernize and create a more efficient working <br />environment. <br /> <br />Work will also include, if approved by the Redwood City Elementary School District, <br />design for a joint use parking lot between Roosevelt Elementary School and Schaberg <br />Library. Funding for the joint use parking lot is proposed to be funded by the School <br />District. <br /> <br />William Fisher Architects has worked with the City in the past and has prepared a <br />conceptual design for the Schaberg Library. Because of their prior experience, <br />knowledge of the facility and successful working relationship with the City, William <br />Fisher Architecture was asked to submit a proposal for designing the modifications to <br />Schaberg Library. <br /> <br />William Fisher Architects has submitted a proposal to design and furnish architectural <br />design services for modifying Schaberg Library in an amount not to exceed $54,000. <br /> <br />Alternatives <br />1. Provide no improvements to the Schaberg Branch Library. <br />2. Seek proposals from other architects. <br /> <br /> <br />
