I-HI August 5, 2002 Subject Agreement for Professional Amhitectural Design Services with William Fisher Amhitecture, Inc. for providing architectural design services for the Remodel of Schaberg Library. Recommendation Approve and authorize execution of an agreement with William Fisher Architecture, Inc. of Santa Cruz, California, for providing Professional Architectural Design Services for furnishing Construction Documents and other design engineering services for the Remodel of Schaberg Library in an amount not to exceed $54,000. Background Schaberg Library does not currently meet ADA standards and this project will provide a ramp and/or elevator to gain access to the building to the physically challenged; upgrade the bathroom facilities to meet ADA requirements; renovate the front counter, and any other work necessary to modernize and create a more efficient working environment. Work will also include, if approved by the Redwood City Elementary School District, design for a joint use parking lot between Roosevelt Elementary School and Schaberg Library. Funding for the joint use parking lot is proposed to be funded by the School District. William Fisher Architects has worked with the City in the past and has prepared a conceptual design for the Schaberg Library. Because of their prior experience, knowledge of the facility and successful working relationship with the City, William Fisher Architecture was asked to submit a proposal for designing the modifications to Schaberg Library. William Fisher Architects has submitted a proposal to design and furnish architectural design services for modifying Schaberg Library in an amount not to exceed $54,000. Alternatives 1. Provide no improvements to the Schaberg Branch Library. 2. Seek proposals from other architects.
