REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the City Manager <br /> August 5, 2002 <br /> Subject <br />Award of Contract for the 2001-2002 Street Overlay Project <br />Recommendation <br />Approve the Contract Documents and award the contract for the 2001-2002 Street <br />Overlay Project to the lowest responsible bidder, O'Grady Paving, inc. of Mountain <br />View, California for their Iow bid of $864,579.00. <br />Background <br />The 2001-2002 Street Overlay Project is a continuation of the Roadway Management <br />System (RMS), which targeted the residential, arterial, and collector streets in need of <br />overlay. <br />- At the bid opening held on July 17, 2002, six (6) bids were received, which are <br />summarized below: <br />, Rank! Bortolotto & Co., Inc. - San Cedes, CA $ 940,078.80 <br /> I 5. ~ C.F Archibald Paving, Inc. - Redwood City, CA $_.~969,964.00 <br /> 6. = DeSilva Gates Construction LP - Dublin, CA $ 999,888.00 <br /> <br /> The Iow bid of $864,579.00 is 10% belo,, the Engineer's Estimate of $965,825.00 and <br /> is considered a good and responsive bid. <br /> Alternative <br /> Do not award the contract and put off overlaying the streets in need until next year. <br /> The condition of the streets wil! decline, ma;ring the ultimate fix that much more <br /> expensive (reconstruction) once the problem is finally confronted. <br /> <br /> <br />
