<br /> <br />City of Redwood City Page 42 <br />Sewer System Management Plan, March 2018 Element VI <br />VI-4 Goals <br />The City’s goals with respect to responding to SSOs are: <br />• Work safely; <br />• Respond quickly to minimize the volume of the SSO; <br />• Eliminate the cause of the SSO; <br />• Prevent sewage system overflows or leaks from entering the storm drain system or <br />receiving waters to the maximum extent practicable; <br />• Contain the spilled wastewater to the extent feasible; <br />• Minimize public contact with the spilled wastewater; <br />• Mitigate the impact of the SSO; <br />• Meet the regulatory reporting requirements; <br />• Evaluate the causes of failure related to certain SSOs; <br />• Revise response procedures resulting from the debrief and failure analysis of certain <br />SSOs; and <br />• Properly document and complete individual and unique record files for each SSO. <br />VI-5 Full Overflow Emergency Response Plan <br />The full copy of the City of Redwood City Overflow Emergency Response Plan effective <br />October 8, 2016 can be found in Appendix VI-1 along with copies of all instructions and forms <br />in the response packets referred to below.
