Redwood City Sanitary Sewer Master Plan Table of Contents <br /> FINAL <br /> <br />August 2008 v <br /> Abbreviations and Definitions <br />ABAG Association of Bay Area Governments: regional planning agency for the San <br />Francisco Bay Area. <br />BWF Base wastewater flow: sanitary and process flow contributions from residential, <br />commercial, institutional, and industrial users of the system. <br />CIP Capital Improvement Program <br />City City of Redwood City <br />d/D Depth to diameter ratio: The depth of flow in a pipe compared to the pipe diameter. <br />Diurnal Pattern (or <br />Diurnal Profile) <br />Change in dry weather flow over a typical 24-hour period. <br />DWF Dry weather flow: the flow during non-rainfall periods, composed of base <br />wastewater flow plus any dry season groundwater infiltration. <br />E2 E2 Consulting Engineers, Inc. <br />FAR Floor area ratio: ratio of building square footage to parcel acreage. <br />GIS Geographic Information System: a computerized system in which geographical <br />features (e.g., sewer facilities, parcels, land use) are linked to an attribute database <br />to facilitate analysis and presentation of information. <br />gpad Gallons per acre per day <br />gpcd Gallons per capita per day <br />GWI Groundwater infiltration: extraneous water that infiltrates into a sewer system from <br />the ground through defective pipes and manholes. Groundwater infiltration is <br />considered to be a relatively constant daily flow that varies seasonally and depends <br />on location of sewers with respect to the groundwater table. <br />IDF Intensity-duration-frequency curve <br />I/I Infiltration/inflow: extraneous groundwater and/or storm water that enter a sanitary <br />sewer system. <br />Master Plan City of Redwood City Sanitary Sewer Master Plan <br />MGD Million gallons per day <br />PWWF Peak wet weather flow: the peak flow during a given storm event from dry weather <br />flow plus infiltration and inflow. <br />RDI/I Rainfall-dependent infiltration/inflow: the infiltration and inflow into a sewer <br />system directly related to a rainfall event.
