Contractor will notify all 342 <br />Residential Customers annually of the Special Handling Service and Backyard 343 <br />Collection Service options and submit, for approval, a draft notification to Agency 344 <br />thirty (30) Days prior to the anticipated date of distribution to Customers. New 345 <br />service recipients shall be notified upon signing up for Collection service of the 346 <br />Special Handling Service and Backyard Collection Service options. 347 <br />4. Special Handling Service Eligibility. Customers desiring Special Handling 348 <br />Service will be required to submit an application, in a form approved by Agency. 349 <br />Contractor shall review applications to determine whether the Customer meets 350 <br />Agency’s eligibility criteria and shall provide a written response within five (5) 351 <br />Business Days after receipt of the application. Unless otherwise directed by 352 <br />Agency, Customers are eligible if they provide (i) evidence of their “handicap 353 <br />status” by the California Department of Motor Vehicles, or (ii) evidence that no 354 <br />Occupant of the Residential Premises is physically able to place Carts Curbside 355 <br />for Collection. On an annual basis, Contractor may request reverification of 356 <br />Special Handling Service eligibility from Customer. 357 <br />B. Multi-Family Dwellings 358 <br />1. General. Contractor shall Collect Solid Waste from Multi-Family Dwellings as 359 <br />frequently as scheduled by Customer, but not less than once per week, and 360 <br />Agency shall bill Customers at Agency-approved Rates. Contractor shall provide 361 <br />extra Collection pick-ups of Containers within one (1) Business Day of 362 <br />Customer’s request and Contractor shall bill Customers at Agency-approved 363 <br />Charges specified in Attachment Q. Customers must subscribe to a minimum 364 <br />service level of three (3) times per week Collection in order to be eligible for 365 <br />Collection on Saturday and/or Sunday. 366 <br />2. Containers. Contractor shall allow Multi-Family Dwelling Customers to use Carts 367 <br />or Bins for Solid Waste Collection that are shared by the Occupants of the 368 <br />Premises. Contractor shall provide one (1) or more Cart(s) or Bin(s) to such 369 <br />Customers as requested by Customer, provided that no less than ninety-six (96) 370 <br />gallons per week of Container capacity are provided for every five (5) dwelling 371 <br />units in the Multi-Family Residential Complex. 372 <br />3. General Service Conditions. The standard Rates for Collection services assume 373 <br />that Containers are accessible by Contractor’s vehicles and personnel. 374 <br />If the Container is wheeled and is three (3) cubic yards or less in capacity and is 375 <br />not a Compactor, the standard Rate includes Collection from the Container 376 <br />located Curbside or in enclosures or on private or public property at a distance 377 <br />less than or equal to fifty (50) feet of access by Contractor’s vehicle, provided 378 <br />that access to the Container is paved and the slope is less than seven percent 379 <br />(7%). The distance to the Container shall be measured in one of the following 380 <br />ways depending on the conditions of the Premises: (i) from the face of the curb 381 <br />to the nearest edge of the Container, (ii) if there is no curb, from the edge of the 382 <br />roadway nearest the nearest edge of the Container, or (iii) from the lifting 383 <br />mechanism on the Collection vehicle if the vehicle can be driven on the 384 <br />Premises. 385 <br />If the Container does not have wheels, or is greater than three (3) cubic yards in 386 <br />capacity, or is a Compactor, the standard Rate includes Collection from a 387 <br />6.2.B. - Page 25
