<br />6~4 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY TO REFER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CONSIDERATION OF AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY STRATEGIC GENERAL PLAN TO ESTABLISH AN ACTIVE <br />COMMUNITY PARK LAND STANDARD OF THREE (3) ACRES PER <br />THOUSAND POPULATION AND DIRECT THAT ANY SUCH <br />RECOMMENDED AMENDMENTS TO THE STRATEGIC GENERAL <br />PLAN BE PROVIDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 18, Article XI of the Redwood City Municipal Code (the <br />"Code") sets forth procedures for amendments of the City of Redwood City Strategic <br />General Plan ('the "General Plan"); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on or about September 27, 2004, the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission presented to the City Council its Parks, Recreation and Community <br />Services Department Strategic Plan, a major focus of which was increasing the amount <br />of active park land available to residents and identifying mechanisms that would finance <br />increased park land; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redwood City (the "City Council") <br />desires to refer to the Planning Commission consideration of an amendment to the <br />Redwood City Strategic General Plan to establish an active community park land <br />standard of three (3) acres per thousand population; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 18.61 of the Redwood City Municipal Code provides for the <br />adoption by the City Council of a resolution of intention which may either direct the <br />Planning Commission to prepare a plan, or part or element thereof, or may refer a <br />proposal to the Planning Commission for review. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />That the Planning Commission is directed to consider amending the City of <br />Redwood City Strategic General Plan with respect to establishment of an active <br />community park land standard of three (3) acres per thousand population. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />That any recommended amendments to the City of Redwood City Strategic <br />General Plan proposed by the Planning Commission be provided to the City <br />Council. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />That this Resolution will be effective upon adoption. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />Atty/Reso.1573 <br />112205 <br />
