6ð-j?

How does Redwood City maintain this standard if adopted?
Most cities on the peninsula use a parks development fee as the revenue source to help
increase parklands as development occurs. There are other approaches but we want to
first focus on the possibility of a development fee. However, we know that these fees
can take many forms and they are not the only way in which increased parkland could
be financed. We currently have more questions than answers. Should the ordinance
apply to residential only? What about additions? Should commercial developments
contribute? Are any variances provided for senior or other special type housing? Is the
park development fee the best approach? Are there additional ideas or ways of
generating revenue to buy and build additional parks that we have not considered?

Please understand that we are actively seeking input on the standard from the
Development Community and that this is the first step in what will be a considerable
public process. If you cannot attend the meeting, you should also feel free to write to us
at the above address.

I hope to see you on the 24th.

Sincerely,

Corinne Centeno
Parks, Recreation and Community Services Director

Att: Park and Recreation Commission Report

ATTACHMENT

B
