He further stated that community building is so <br />important and the PACT program and Community Builders program are designed <br />to involve the community members to help in making real change in the future. <br /> <br />M/S Ira/Foust to nominate Vice Mayor Pierce to serve as Mayor. <br /> <br />M/S Foust/Hartnett to close the nomination for Mayor. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote. <br /> <br />Mayor Ira recalled the defeat of Measure B and his consoling Vice Mayor Pierce <br />during that difficult time, and that one of the highest points was her re-election two <br />years ago. He stated that both those examples exemplify how much Vice Mayor <br />Pierce cares about the community and that she has a true, warm and caring <br />heart. He stated that she is always thinking about how to put the community first, <br />having a great passion to solve issues and engaging people in conversation to <br />understand and bring them to consensus. He further stated that she strives to <br />form partnerships and seek volunteers in the community. He stated that she is a <br />wonderful person, will make a great Mayor and guide the community with care <br />and love. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Pierce was voted unanimously by roll call vote to serve as Mayor <br />for the next two years. Nominations and selection of Vice Mayor for a two-year term, conducted by the <br />Mayor; <br /> <br />Mayor Pierce opened the nominations for Vice Mayor. <br /> <br />M/S Howard/Ira nominated Council Member Foust as the next Vice Mayor of <br />Redwood City . <br /> <br />M/S Howard/Hartnett to close the nominations. The motion passed by a <br />unanimous voice vote. <br /> <br />Council Member Howard stated that she considers it an honor to nominate Council <br />Member Foust citing her professional and personal accomplishments. She is <br />Executive Vice President of Alsace Development International, past Chair for the <br />Redwood City/San Mateo Chamber of Commerce, past President and current <br />board member of the Redwood Shores Community Association, and serving her <br />first term on the Council.
