De~, Ma¥0r Claffe: . <br /> <br /> I am pleased to report the results of. the Public Port Finance Survey f.or Fiscal Year :2000 <br /> prepared by the U.S. Department of.Trm~portation Maritime Administration (MARAD). <br /> The report is based on information provided to MARAD by the American Association of' <br /> Port AuthOrities (AAPAD through a survey of ils members. <br /> <br /> The report comains primarily financial information on m~time activities at ports; the <br /> ratio analysis section of.the MARAD report is included for your p~r~al. Port staffhas <br /> prepared a report based on the ratio analysis section of the MARAD report which <br /> compares results among the ei~t California ports included.in the survey by means of <br /> ranking. <br /> <br /> Of the eleven ratios presented, the Port of. Redwood City ranked first in six ratios, second <br /> in two, third in two, and fourth in one. Overall, based on the composite ranking score, <br /> the Port of Redwood City ranked #1. <br /> <br /> " The ratios presented in the report are frequently'~'e;~l in financial statement analysis as <br /> measures of operating performance, short-!erin liquidity, return on investment, capital <br /> structure, and asset utilization. Since there are no established benchmark industry <br /> standards, the ratios can best be interpreted by comparison with other ports. <br /> <br /> Each member of the Board of Port commissioners and each member of the Port staff is <br /> proud of the results achieved.
