Include the scope of the project, the type of artwork <br />you are looking for, and the qualities you want the artwork to embody or ideas you want it to address.) <br />Proposal award: The artist will be awarded $X for the submission of a qualifying proposal. <br />budget: $X for artist fee, travel, design, materials, fabrication, and installation. <br />location: (Short description and location of the site with photo/link to google map street view. Include <br />information about the site’s function, the types of activities that go on there, and the demographic of <br />visitors.) <br />Proposal submission requirements: The proposal is the means for the artist to fully present their <br />ideas to the committee and is what the committee will review in selection of the final artist. As such it <br />should be thorough and provide all information necessary to accurately communicate the envisioned <br />artwork. All proposal materials must be submitted electronically. Send the following documents to (enter <br />contact email here) <br />artist statement of intent describing the artist’s personal connection to, and interest in, the project <br />and what they bring to the project as an artist. <br />1. A written description of the artwork: Up to two pages, this should describe the aesthetic <br />direction of the artwork. (What it is, how it looks, materials, size etc.) <br />2. a descriptive narrative Up to three pages) that addresses: <br /> • The artist’s philosophical approach and conceptual framework for the art. <br /> • How the artwork takes into consideration community input and information provided <br /> by ____(list the organizations involved/commissioning the project) <br /> • How the artwork addresses____(insert qualities/needs related to the specific project). <br /> • How the art connects to and interacts with its location. <br /> • How the art will remain interesting and relevant over time. <br /> • How the artwork addresses and interacts with the community. <br /> • Points of inspiration for the project. <br /> • Takeaways from research and time spent in the City. <br />3. Visual representations of the artwork including drawings, images, 3D renderings, site plans <br />or other graphics. <br />4. technical considerations: All information regarding the materials and material specifications, <br />dimensions, and fabrication and installation methods. <br />5. detailed budget describing how funds will be allocated to materials, installation, artist fee etc. <br />including a detailed materials list. <br />6. timetable <br />evaluation Criteria: The Selection Committee will use the following criteria to evaluate the proposals <br />and determine which artist will be selected for the project- <br />1. Meeting the goals and objectives: How does the artwork… (address specific goals and <br />objectives of the project) <br />2. aesthetics: The quality and artistic excellence of the design, including creativity and originality, <br />use of materials, appropriateness of content and the degree to which the artwork will remain <br />interesting and relevant over time. <br />3. Relationship of artwork to the site: How does the artwork address and interact with the visual <br />and communal aspects of the location? Consider including the types of activities that take place <br />there, the demographic of the audience, the community’s relationship to the site, and the artwork’s <br />place making for the community. <br />4. durability longevity and maintenance: The degree to which the artwork will not require <br />excessive and costly maintenance and will stand up to environmental conditions. <br />Policies: artists will retain ownership of design ideas submitted with this application.
