  <br />  <br />  <br />Evidence Processing Area and Temporary Storage Project  <br />FACILITIES  <br />  <br />  <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION  <br />The Police Department's current temporary storage lockers are  <br />antiquated and portions of the lockers are not functional. Currently,  <br />refrigerated items are placed in an actual refrigerator in a separate  <br />room, two lockers are not operational, the mail slot locker's guard is  <br />broken and in order to open the lockers from the inside, property  <br />personnel must climb inside the locker to release the latch.                            <br />The current evidence processing area is not designed according to  <br />health and safety requirements for handling narcotics nor does it offer  <br />adequate space to properly package all types and sizes of evidence and  <br />property. Due to the lack of space, officers cannot efficiently package  <br />firearms or any large items. They typically bring the items over to report  <br />writing and utilize that space instead. The counter top is made of  <br />Formica laminate and is currently covered in red evidence seal tape.  <br />This particular substrate is not easy to clean and it is difficult to detect  <br />hazardous materials or harmful materials present.  <br />PROJECT BENEFITS  <br /> Updated functional lockers with refrigeration   <br />  Improved evidence processing space with functionality and adherence to health and safety guidelines  <br />PROJECT STATUS  <br />This is a new project. Initial planning and replacement cost calculations are complete. <br />  <br />PROJECT SCHEDULE  <br />To be determined.  <br />Planning Design Construction <br />02/2018    06/2018  07/2018 09/2018 10/2018    06/2019 <br />  <br />PROJECT ESTIMATES  <br />   REQUESTED BUDGET 5 – Year Future <br />FUND   2018/19 2019/20 2020/21 2021/22 2022/23 Total Years <br />357      $10,000   $10,000 <br />     <br />Total      $10,000   $10,000 <br />  <br />   <br />9.A - Page 46
