<br /> <br /> <br />City – YMCA VETERANS MEMORIAL CENTER <br />PARKS <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br />The City and the YMCA are partnering on a joint project to build a new <br />Veterans Memorial Senior Center, and the Y would build a new aquatics and <br />fitness center at Red Morton Park. The boundaries of the project encompass <br />the current footprint of the Senior Center‐Herkner Pool area at the Park. This <br />progressive public‐nonprofit partnership takes into consideration community <br />needs as well as fiscal efficiencies. This is a high priority for City Council. We <br />are currently in the Master Planning/Schematic phase of the project. <br /> <br />PROJECT BENEFITS <br /> Creates state‐of‐the‐art recreational facilities <br /> Expanded recreational opportunities for year round use <br /> Efficient use of valuable resources <br /> Creates long term sustainability <br />PROJECT STATUS <br />CEQA has been launched, and ELS Architecture has been hired by the City and the Y to host community workshops and develop <br />schematic design.
