  <br />  <br />  <br />TRAFFIC CALMING (70553)  <br />TRANSPORTATION  <br />  <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION  <br />Reviews, plans, and implements traffic‐calming strategies and projects  <br />on various streets throughout the city to reduce speeding in residential  <br />neighborhoods. Typical speed‐control devices include speed humps,  <br />traffic circles, and radar speed‐feedback signs. This program also funds  <br />pedestrian and bicycle related improvements such as marked  <br />crosswalks, median refuge islands, and bicycle warning signage.   <br />  <br />Completed the conceptual design for Hopkins Avenue – a separate CIP  <br />project has been created that would fund the design and construction  <br />of the project. The next highest priority for traffic calming is Roosevelt  <br />Avenue.   <br />LOCATION DESCRIPTION:  <br />Citywide program. Current projects: Hopkins  <br />Avenue, between El Camino Real and Alameda  <br />de las Pulgas. Proposed project: Roosevelt  <br />Avenue: Alameda de las Pulgas to El Camino  <br />Real.  <br />PROJECT BENEFITS  <br /> Increases safety for all road users by reducing speeding and unsafe driving behavior.   <br /> Improves livability in residential neighborhoods and encourages more interaction among neighbors  <br />PROJECT STATUS  <br />Conceptual design for Hopkins Avenue Traffic Safety Project is complete.
