<br />HOMELESSNESS <br />•The 2017 homeless point-in-time count for San Mateo <br />County showed an overall reduction of 16% from 2015 in <br />the number of both sheltered and unsheltered homeless <br />persons (from 1,483 to 1,253 persons). <br />•While fewer people are living in the streets, more people <br />are living in cars and RVs. <br />•Redwood City saw a significant reduction in the total <br />number of homeless people in 2017: only 94 people were <br />counted this year, whereas the last census found 223 <br />people. <br />(Source: County of San Mateo Human Services Agency, 2017)
