<br />PUBLIC WORKS SERVICES DEPARTMENT 14 <br />Flygt Sewage and Storm Pump Preventative Maintenance Project <br />Attachment B – Scope of Services <br /> <br />Background: <br />The City of Redwood City, California (“City”) is soliciting Proposals from qualified Flygt sewage <br />and storm pump maintenance and repair companies (“Contractor,” “Proposer”) to provide <br />maintenance, servicing and repair services to the 62 Flygt sewage pumps and 15 Flygt storm <br />pumps located in Redwood City and the Redwood Shores District. The new Contractor will start <br />providing services on a mutually agreed-upon date. <br /> <br />Site Description: <br />The Sanitary Sewer System of the City of Redwood City has a total of thirty-one (31) sewer pump <br />stations to transfer sewage to the treatment plant. Each pump station has two (2) submersible <br />sewage pumps. The submersible pumps are operating constantly; therefore, pump reliability is a <br />vital part of the City’s sewage collection system. The City standardized these pumps to be Flygt <br />submersible pumps. The City also has nine (9) locations outfitted with Flygt storm pumps, with a <br />total of fifteen (15) storm pumps equipped. <br /> <br />A. Competence of Contractor <br />In order to demonstrate that the Contractor can properly fulfill all of the services and conditions <br />of these specifications, the Contractor shall meet the following criteria: <br /> <br />1. The Contractor shall have satisfactorily performed other contracts of a similar nature and <br />magnitude and shall have been in business at least five (5) years. <br /> <br />2. The Contractor shall have the requisite organization of skilled and experienced <br />maintenance workers under their direct employment and supervision. <br /> <br />3. The Contractor shall have access to the repair parts described in Exhibit F so they can be <br />obtained within one to two days, if the City does not already have the repair parts <br />available. <br /> <br />4. The Contractor shall have access to unexpected and/or major repair parts (e.g. those not <br />described in Exhibit F) within 3-4 weeks. <br /> <br />B. Maintenance Program <br />Contractor shall provide preventative maintenance, once each year for the five years of the <br />contract term, to each of the City’s sixty-two Flygt equipped sewage pumps and fifteen Flygt <br />equipped storm pumps located throughout the Redwood City, and Redwood Shores District, <br />which pumps are listed herein below in Attachment E. Such preventative maintenance shall <br />include: <br />1. A complete 21 point mechanical and electrical inspection of each of the sixty-two <br />6.1.A. - Page 31
