1 <br />Attachment 2 <br /> <br /> <br />BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF AGENCY FUNDING REQUESTS <br />HSFA APPLICANTS FY 2018-19 <br /> <br />El Centro de Libertad – Substance Use Disorder for Urban Youth and <br />Adults <br />The Substance Use Disorder Program for Urban Youth and Adults is an <br />outpatient program tailored to meet youth, adult, and family needs in both <br />Spanish and English providing prevention education classes, outpatient <br />treatment services, and specialized programs in anger management, parenting, <br />and domestic violence support groups. Funding Requested: $10,000. Funding <br />Recommended: $0. <br /> <br />Fresh Lifelines for Youth, Inc (FLY) – Law and Leadership Program for <br />Redwood City Youth. FLY’s mission is to prevent juvenile crime and <br />incarceration through legal education, mentoring, and leadership training. FLY <br />will provide its Law Program to between 30 to 60 at-risk Redwood City high <br />schoolers and its Leadership Program to a minimum of 4 moderate/high risk <br />Redwood City youth. Youth learn about the consequences of criminal behavior <br />and develop the life skills to say no to crime and build healthier lives. The <br />Program is an innovative law education course taught in 2-hour sessions over 12 <br />weeks by volunteer law and university students, community professionals and <br />FLY staff. Funding Requested: $20,000. Funding Recommended: $10,000. <br /> <br />Health Connected – Redwood City Sexual Health Education Project. <br />Through this project, Health Connected’s trained health educators provide local <br />students developmentally-appropriate courses in sexual health education using <br />their five originally-developed curricula – Puberty Talk, Teen Talk Middle School, <br />Teen Talk High School, Teen Talk High School Refresher, and Teen Talk <br />Adapted for All Abilities. The curricula meets the stringent requirements defined <br />in the California Education Code for sexual health education and are aligned with <br />California’s Content Standards. Funding Requested: $20,000. Funding <br />Recommended: $0. <br /> <br />International Institute of the Bay Area (IIBA) – Supporting Redwood City <br />Immigrant Families. IIBA provides high-quality immigration legal services, <br />education, and civic engagement opportunities to immigrants, refugees and their <br />families as they join and contribute to the community. IIBA's 'Supporting <br />Redwood City Immigrant Families' project provides the legal information, advice <br />and assistance that low-income immigrant families need in order to make <br />educated decisions about their future, and to fully integrate into the community. <br />Funding Requested: $10,000.
