Irrigation

1. Sprinklers and sprays shall not be used in areas less than six (6) feet
wide. Drip and/or bubblers to be used in these areas. Bubblers shall
not exceed one and a half (1.5) gallons per minute per device, and drip
systems emitters shall not exceed 1 gallon per hour per dence.

2. To minimize runoff, sprinkler heads with a precipitation rate of
eighty-five hundred (.85) inches per hour or less shall be used on
slopes exceeding a six to one ratio (over 15% slope) or exceeding a one
to ten ratio (or 10% slope) within 10 feet of any hardscaping.

3. No overhead irrigation systems shall be used on slopes exceeding a 2 to
1 ratio (or 50% slope).

4. Valves and circuits shall be separated based on water use. (Shrub
heads to be grouped under one valve and turfheads to be grouped on
another valve for example).

5. Drip or bubbler irrigation systems are required for trees, irregardless
if planted alone or in groundcover or turf.

6. Sprinkler head spacing shall be designed for head-to-head coverage.
The system should be designed for minimum runoff and overspray onto
non-irrigated areas.

7. Serviceable check valves are required where elevation differential may
cause low head drainage. (In order to minimize leakage from the lowest
point of the irrigation system).

8. Sprinkler heads must have matched precipitation rates within each
control valve circuit.

9. All irrigation systems shall be equipped with a controller capable of
dual or multiple programming. Controllers must have multiple cycle
start capacity and a flexible calendar program.

10. To ensure an effecient use of water, all landscape/irrigation plans
should include the following:

A. Estimated annual water use (in gallons) and the area (in square
feet) irrigated.
B. Precipitation rates for each valve circuit.
C. Monthly irrgation schedule for the plant establishment period and
for the first year thereafter.
D. An operating schedule chart is to be affixed to the irrigation
controller station. This chart is to be clearly marked with the
timer settings for each circuit for each season. A copy of this
operating schedule chart is to be submitted before the final
inspection of the project.

11~08
