V <br />1 <br />E X H I B I T " A" <br />I,`ITRODUCTION <br />The Redwood City Department of Public works explored the <br />possibilities of financing future public improvements of the <br />undeveloped area of Redwood Peninsula and a Portion of South <br />Shores, known as Pond A-12, and located between Whipple Avenue <br />and holly Street Exit of the Dayshore• Freeway and west of <br />Smith Slough. <br />To :/rovide a basis for the financing with the growth ot7ective <br />of the two areas, we have prepared cost estimates for each <br />area. The cost estimates were based on the timing established <br />b;• LOO develoi,er. The period of planning extends from 1982 <br />through 1989 for Redwood Peninsula, and from 1987 to 1990 for <br />Sou L:: Shores. <br />The estimated items include the public facilities only, and <br />they are not extended onto private property for any phase of <br />the work. It is estimated that no additional water supply i <br />need..' tr:.rovide potable water for Pond A-12 in South Shores. <br />liowever, t'.:e construction cost of an off-site 24" diameter <br />water line from the intersection of '•E'• Street and Arguello <br />Stre,t to Lhe existing 24" water ling in tiie Shoreway Frontage <br />Road has been included in the Cost Estimate. <br />I <br />!j <br />Also, it will be necessary to construct an off-site sanitary <br />sewer -force main from Pond A-12 to the SOS,1 facilities for the } <br />sanitary sewer orginated in Pond A-12. The cost of this off- <br />siae facility is included in the Cost Estimate. <br />t:ith LP.c development of the kedwocd Peninsula Cast of Shell <br />Par:'..way, it will be necessary to abandon the existing sewer <br />farce main along Radio Road from Pump Station ::o. 10 to the <br />Oxidation Pond, and construct a new outlet following the align- <br />ment of the existing Shell Parkwa-, and t. -.e proposed extension <br />of Redwood S:.0 res Parkway. The cost of the realignment of <br />this force main is included in the estimate. <br />wo water tanks for adequate water sucply and fire protection <br />is included in the estimates.
