353 Main Street Apartments
Redwood City, California
May L, 2018
(Original Report Dated November L8,20L6)
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Site Setting
The subject property is an irregular shaped parcel located at 353 Main Street in Redwood City,
California (APN 052-383-370). The site area has a latitude of 37.4914"N and a longitude of
L22.2263"W (See Figure L).
Site Description
The subject site is located in the eastern part of Redwood City (adjacent to the San Francisco Bay)
less than %-mile southwest of Bayshore Freeway (US 101) and is currently occupied by a
rectangular shaped one story medical building in the northwest portion of the site. Redwood
Creek wraps around the northern and east periphery of the site. The remainder of the site is
covered with an asphaltic concrete paved at-grade parking lot with minor landscape islands. The
site is bounded by a multi-story residential development to the northwest, Main Street to the
southwest, a medical office building and restaurant to the south, and Redwood Creek to the
north and east.
Project Description
Based on a review of the conceptual plans prepared by Withee Malcolm Architects, ¡t ¡s our
understanding that a new 6to7 story apartment building will be constructed to take up most of
the parcel. The proposed apartment building will include 4 to 5 stories of wood-framed
apartment buildings over two levels of at-grade parking garage.
Scope of Services
The scope of work for the geotechnical engineering study included general site reconnaissance,
subsurface exploration, laboratory testing of selected samples, corrosion testing, engineering
evaluation of the data collected, and preparation of this report. The analysis and subsequent
recommendations were based on our understanding of the proposed development at the subject
site and our experience with projects of a similar nature.
The report and recommendations are intended to comply with the considerations of Section
L803 of the California Building Code (CBC) ,2016 Edition, and common geotechnical engineering
practice in this area at this time under similar conditions. The laboratory tests were performed
in general conformance with the standards noted, as modified by common geotechnical practice
in this area at this time under similar conditions.
L301842-001 1610-038.SER.REV2
7.B. - Page 59
