ATTY/RESO.0038/CC RESO PROP 68 <br />REV: 05-14-18 JS <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />WHEREAS, SB 5 invests $30 million in trail network improvements promoting <br />non-motorized recreational and commuter opportunities throughout the state; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 5 expends hundreds of millions on other important investments <br />in resource-related infrastructure including California’s rivers, coast, and other <br />waterways; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 5 invests hundreds of millions toward combatting global warming <br />through investments in urban greening projects, promoting healthy forests and carbon <br />farming applications; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 5 underwrites $250 million in investments in improving local <br />water systems, and providing safe and reliable drinking water to all Californians; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 5 spends $80 million in competitive grants for treatment and <br />remediation to promote access to safe drinking water in some of California’s most <br />economically challenged communities; and <br />WHEREAS, SB 5 underwrites improvements in the state flood management <br />systems, armoring against calamities that beset the state including Oroville and <br />elsewhere. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> 1. That the City of Redwood City does hereby support SB 5, the California <br />Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection, and Outdoor Access for All Act of <br />2018 that is scheduled to appear on the June 2018 statewide ballot as Proposition 68. <br /> <br />* * * <br /> <br />9.B. - Page 5
