Milpitas <br />Intended as a temporary measure while the city worked through the studies, the Milpitas City Council in June 2015 adopted <br />a resolution requiring new residential development applications with five or more units to set aside 5 percent as affordable <br />for at least 55 years and contribute 5 percent of construction value to a housing fund. On a project -by -project level, <br />however, the city has been asking developers to set aside 20 percent of residential units as affordable. Nearly three years <br />later in a much -changed legal landscape, the city released residential and non-residential nexus studies.
