<br />MAY 2 1 1990 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. ll2..8.S-- <br />RESOLUTION IN RECOGNITION OF EXTRAORDINARY COURAGE IN THE LINE OF DUTY <br /> <br />O<"Rlr""!\L <br />f u H~f\ <br /> <br />OFFICER BLAKE TYSON, REDWOOD CITY POLICE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Officer Blake Tyson has been awarded the Redwood City Police <br /> <br />Department's highest honor, the Medal of Valor, for his brave and <br />courageous actions in the line of duty; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Tyson, is only the third recipient of this honor in <br /> <br />the history of the Redwood City Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Tyson's decisive and skillful actions on the evening <br />of February 13, 1990, resulted in the arrest of three men suspected in the <br />robbery of a Redwood City home; and <br />WHEREAS, Officer Blake Tyson on patrol that evening responded to a <br />call from dispatch of "armed robbery in progress", and arrived first on the <br />scene to confront two armed suspects as they climbed out of the rear window <br /> <br />and two more suspects standing in the rear yard, one of them armed with a <br /> <br />semiautomatic pistol; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Officer Tyson apprehended two of the armed suspects on the <br />spot and radioed information that led to the apprehension of one of the two <br />suspects who fled the scene; and <br />WHEREAS, the Redwood City Police Department is justifiably proud of <br />one of its own and the City Council and the citizens of Redwood City are <br /> <br />grateful and proud as well; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGI LA BERGE, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL, do hereby commend OFFICER BLAKE TYSON for <br /> <br />his courage and bravery in the face of deadly odds, and express our deepest <br />appreciation for his dedication to duty and his valiant service to our <br />community. <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br /> <br />* <br />
