Review and accept the final report - Water Recycling Feasibility Study for Redwood City <br /> prepared by Kennedy/Jenks Consultants <br /> 2. Direct staff to begin public awareness program for proposed project <br /> <br /> Background <br /> O.n June 11, 2001 the City Council approved the agreement with Kennedy/Jenks <br /> <br />· Consultants for the Water Recycling Feasibility Study for the Redwood Shores area. <br /> Kennedy/Jenks was recommended from a field of four firms following a competitive, two- <br /> phase selection process~ <br /> <br /> On January 28, 2002, the Council approved Task Order No. 1 which authorized staff and <br /> Kennedy/Jenks to begin working directly wi~h Caltrans, the San Mateo County <br /> Transportation Authority and their design consultants to conduct a pre-design study of the <br /> proposed Hwy. 101 bike path recycled water transmission '.ine and develop a checklist of <br /> all technical requirements, permits, constraints and potential costs associated with the <br /> work. The work was completed within a very short period established by Caltrans. <br /> <br /> On February 4, 2002, the Council reviewed and accepted the Water Recycling Feasibility <br /> Study for the Redwood Shores area from Kennedy/Jenks Consultants. <br /> <br /> On February 25, 2002, the Council approved Task Order No. 2 to the professional <br /> consulting engineering services agreement with Kennedy/Jenks Consultants. The Council <br /> also approved the list of next steps for moving toward implementation of the Redwood <br /> Shores Water Recycling Project, including a cost effectiveness study, project financing plan <br /> and review of water rates and connection fees. In preparing the scope of work for Task <br /> Order No. 2, staff asked Kennedy/Jenks to retain the services of Bartle Wells Associates to <br /> perform much of the financial analysis work. Also, staff has added a refined "market <br /> assessment" of the "Greater Bayfront Area" (east of Hwy. 101 and south of Whipple Ave.) <br /> and a more developed concept plan for pipeline alignments in the Greater Bayfront Area <br /> and Central Redwood City. A contingency allowance of 80 hours was included as well, to <br /> provide some flexibility as the work moved ahead and as the City Council Utilities <br /> Committee began their input and review of work products. (Some of the contingency was <br /> utilize~t to assist staff in preparing a State grant and loan application package, which is now <br /> being reviewed by the staff of the State of California Water Resources Control Board.) <br /> <br /> On March 11,2002, The Council approved Task Order No. 3, which included production of <br /> <br /> 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
