ORIGINAL <br /> AGREEMENT <br /> BETWEEN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND <br /> THE SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR SCHOOL <br /> RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM <br /> This Agreement is made and entered into this `� da y of ) 2018, by <br /> and between the City of Redwood City ("City") and the Sequoia Union High School <br /> District ("District") (collectively, the "Parties"). <br /> RECITALS <br /> This Agreement is entered into with reference to the following facts and <br /> circumstances: <br /> A. Since the year 2000, the Redwood City Police Department has provided a <br /> School Resource Officer ("SRO") at Sequoia High School. The SRO is involved in a variety <br /> of activities that enhance safety on campus and provide a positive police presence, <br /> increasing the Police Department's ability to serve the needs of the entire Redwood City <br /> community. <br /> B. The partnership between Sequoia High School and the Police Department is <br /> an important part of on-going efforts to reach out to the youth in the community and <br /> establish strong relationships with community members. <br /> C. The District agrees to partially fund the SRO salary during the nine months <br /> when the high school is in session. The District has requested 40 hours per week of SRO <br /> services at Sequoia High School for the 2018-19 school year (July 1 , 2018 - June 30, 2019). <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the collaborative agreements herein <br /> contained, the sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the Parties hereto agree as <br /> follows: <br /> 1 . Term and Termination. The term of this Agreement shall be for a period <br /> beginning on July 1 , 2018 and ending June 30, 2019. <br /> 2. Obligation of the City. During the term of this Agreement, City hereby <br /> covenants and agrees to the following: <br /> A. The City agrees to provide a SRO for Sequoia High School to <br /> address safety issues as described below. <br /> i.
