RESOLUTION NO.

RESOLUTION AMENDING REDWOOD CITY POLICE
DEPARTMENT FEE SCHEDULE

WHEREAS, the current Redwood City Police Department Fee Schedule
was adopted by the City Council on February 2002; and

WHEREAS, the police department receives many requests to provide
supplemental police services such as security and traffic control for various
community events throughout the year; and

WHEREAS, the Chief of Police uses his discretion in determining the
supplemental police resources to be allocated for such events based upon the
public need for a police presence versus the viability of private security, the
nature and scope of the event, the operational needs of the department and
department staffing levels;

WHEREAS, when supplemental police resources are allocated, this is
done on either a fee for service basis per the department fee schedule or at no
cost to the event holder; and

WHEREAS, when supplemental police resources are provided at no cost,
this is usually done through voluntary flexing of on-duty personnel schedules
and/or the use of Reserve Officers and Cadets

WHEREAS, in recognition of the limited financial resources available to
many non-profit organizations and the need to balance Department costs borne
through the utilization of supplemental police resources, it is in the best interest
of the City of Redwood City to allow the Chief of Police to use his discretion,

F:Atty/Reso/Reso. 1317 1
070202
