AGREEMENT <br /> FOR <br /> ABANDONED SHOPPING CART RETRIEVAL PROGRAM <br /> <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 1st day of July, 2002, by and <br />between George Glukfeld, SAFEWAY # 305 ("Participating Owner") and the CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, a charter city and municipal corporation of the State of California <br />("City"); <br /> <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Article VIII (commencing with § 14.115) <br />of Chapter 14 of the Code of the City of Redwood City (the "Ordinance") City provides <br />for the abatement of abandoned shopping carts; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Participating Owner owns and operates a business within City's <br />corporate limits which provides shopping carts for the use of its customers; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, unauthorized removal of shopping certs from Participating Owner's <br />business premises is detrimental to the efficient and economic operation of Participating <br />Owner's business; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, shopping certs so removed are generally abandoned on public <br />property; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, abandoned shopping carts are a public nuisance and are <br />detrimental to the public health, safety, and welfare; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, City has entered into an agreement with a Shopping Cart Retrieval <br />Service (the "Contractor"); and <br /> <br /> cll. i~ I,4 hl~ A, Gi~i~!S OFFICE <br /> <br />F:AffyOD/AgmtJAgmt-519 - code-enforce-contract-4/15 ~.
