Office of the City Manager ~ I Page 3 MEMORANDUM DATE: January 31, 2006 TO: City Council FROM: Magda González, Assistant to the City Manager cc: City Manager and Executive Team RE: Results of Community Input Meetings on Council Priorities As you know, during the last several years, we have made a concerted effort in the area of building community and communication. We have worked hard at creating an environment and opportunities for the City to partner with the community. As this is not traditionally the way local government operates, we are continually learning and improving in how we accomplish this. Therefore continuing our efforts, we invited the community to attend one of two meetings where we asked them for their input on the City Council Priorities. These two sessions were identical sessions and we held on Wednesday, January 18 and Thursday, January 19th in the evening. We had a total of 90 or so community members attend the two meetings. At each meeting we began by providing dinner and asking them to share with each other how they came to be a part of the Redwood City community. We then asked them to share with others at their table what they would like to communicate to Council about what is important to them. We asked them to talk about what things they felt Council should focus on. Each table was then asked to reach consensus on the top four or five items and report them out to the whole group. staff documented all of the comments that were reported out to the entire group.
