<br />REGISTER FOR THE 2006 PUBLIC <br />WORKS OFFICERS INSTITUTE <br />HOTEL ROOMS ALMOST SOLD OUTI <br />The February 6 registration deadline for the <br />2006 Public Works Officers Institute (PWOI) and <br />Mini-Expo is rapidly approaching, with hotel rooms <br />at the Hyatt Regency Islandia almost sold out! <br /> <br />The meeting will be held on Wednesday, <br />March 1, through Friday, March 3, at the Hyatt <br />Regency Islandia in San Diego. It presents an <br />excellent opportunity for public works directors, <br />assistant directors, city engineers, assistant city <br />engineers, transportation managers, and assistant <br />managers to reflect and learn about issues that <br />continually impact them throughout the year. <br /> <br />The conference and mini-expo provides city <br />and county officials in the public works fields to <br />network and look ahead to the many challenges <br />and successes in the coming years. <br /> <br />Features of the 2006 PWOI includes sessions <br />on soaring construction costs, traffic calming <br />issues. infrastructure, affordable housing, and an <br />update on legal issues. Sacramento Bee Colum- <br />nist Dan Walters and Ron McMillan, author of the <br />book Crucial Conversations, are both featured <br />speakers at the conference.
