In the <br />interest of keeping the public informed, he requested that there be as much detail <br />as possible. Mayor Pierce stated that the Community meetings summary of detail <br />will be provided prior to the Council Priority Setting Session and that at the next <br />regular City Council meeting, an item for discussion will be on the agenda about <br />priorities, what was important and how those ideas were incorporated. <br /> <br />C. Mayor Pierce - stated that Dr. Reeves will serve as a facilitator and the <br />Community Task Force on Tree Policies will begin in March. Press releases and a <br />kick-off are ready; letters are going out to anyone with involvement in the Public <br />Works Department and tree issues; letters will go to all water users for a broad <br />dissemination of the notice. Applications can be obtained from the City Clerk's <br />Office and packets available online by January 27. Applications are due by 5;00 <br />p.m. on February 13, 2006. The task force will be composed of between 17 and 23 <br />members and the purview is based on the purpose, logistics, and desired <br />outcomes of the meeting of October 19, 2005. <br /> <br />Public Comment <br />Nita Spangler asked if any money would be budgeted to work with professional <br />arborists and asked what the process for employing them would be. <br /> <br />Mayor Pierce stated that there is a budget and she would respond with further <br />information at a later time. <br /> <br />Nita Spangler stated that many years ago when there were racial problems in <br />Redwood City, a committee was formed with a member who was a wonderful <br />woman named Lily Goodspeed. She stated she was a very classy woman who <br />lived over on Cypress and had children in the schools. She was always involved, <br />inspired the committee and it is still providing a scholarship to Canada College. <br />Her obituary recently appeared in the newspaper. <br /> <br />10.
