<br />6.28 <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />, , <br />" , <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the C:it Mana er <br /> <br />February 13, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - Lagoon Intake Facility 1/ Replacement Project <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the Lagoon Intake Facility II Replacement Project, and authorize the release of <br />bonds. <br /> <br />Background <br />The Lagoon Intake Facility II is located near the intersection of Marine Parkway and <br />Shearwater Parkway. This facility is one of the two intake structures designed for <br />conveying Bay water from the Belmont Slough into the interior lagoon of Redwood <br />Shores. The water will then discharge back to the Bay by discharge facilities located at <br />different locations. <br /> <br />The work performed consisted of replacing the existing deteriorated and outdated <br />intake structure, the installation of: two 72 foot-long, 48 inch diameter reinforced <br />concrete intake pipes; 40 feet of 54 inch diameter reinforced concrete intake pipe; a <br />new dewatering structure, three (3) new slide gates, two (2) new flap gates; a new four- <br />foot stub-out pipe from the dewatering structure with an end cap for future connection, <br />and performing other related activities. <br /> <br />City Council awarded this contract to Power Engineering Contractors, Inc. of Alameda, <br />California on July 11, 2005, for an amount of $655,751.00. Two change orders were <br />issued for a total amount of $16,944.00, bringing the adjusted contract amount to <br />$672,695.00. <br /> <br />All the work was completed in conformance with the Contract Documents, and to the <br />satisfaction of Engineering & Construction Services. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Do not accept the Lagoon Intake Facility II Replacement Project, which would be <br />contrary to prior Council Action. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br />.'"'.--...".. -~.,_.- , --""" -"... <br /> <br />..,..-, _..."._,~". ...__._-~"._--""--'-'-"-----' <br />
