ORDINANCE AMENDING REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE CHAPTER 6.04 OF TITLE 6 OF THE SAN MATEO COUNTY ORDINANCE CODE AS AMENDED ON SEPTEMBER 13,2005, RELATING TO REGULATIONS FOR ANIMAL CONTROL The City Council of Redwood City does ordain as follows: SECTION 1. Amendment of Code. In accordance with the provisions of Section 50022.1 et seq., of the California Government Code, Chapter 5 of the Redwood City Municipal Code entitled "Animals and Fowl" is hereby amended by revising Article 1, Regulations for Animal Control, Section 5.1, County Regulations to adopt, in part, the San Mateo County Ordinance Code pertaining to Animal Control Regulations to read as follows: "Sec. 5.1 COUNTY REGULATIONS ADOPTED: B. Pursuant to California Government Code Section 50022.1 et seq., and Section 15 of the Charter of the city, Chapter 6.04 of Title 6 (comprised of Sections 6.04.010 through 6.04.330), of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code (as amended on September 13, 2005) is hereby adopted and shall be in effect within the City to the same extent as if set forth in full herein, except as expressly amended by the provisions of this Article. . In the event of any conflict between the provisions of Chapter 6.04, Title 6, of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code (hereinafter referred to as the "Animal Control Ordinance") and the provisions of this Article, the provisions of this Article shall govern." A. SECTION 2. Public Hearing on Adoption of Portion of County Code. A public hearing shall be conducted on January 9, 2006, commencing at 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City of Redwood City located at 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City. Notice of the public hearing shall be published once a week for a period of two successive weeks in the Redwood Daily News, a newspaper of general circulation in Redwood City. The first publication shall be made on or before , 2006. Three copies of Chapter 6.04 of Title 6 of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code designated Exhibit A and as amended on September 13, 2005, by Exhibit B are on file in the Office of the City Clerk and are open to public inspection. This constitutes the Animal Control Program for the County to be adopted by the City. It includes provisions pertaining to rabies vaccinations, dog and cat licensing, regulations for dangerous and vicious animals as defined, provisions for inspection of property on which dangerous and vicious animals are kept, impoundment of animals and related administrative hearings, fees and charges for the program, and penalties for violation of animal control regulations.
