<br /> 6.2A <br />REPORT Page 1 <br />February 27, 2006 <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - Water Main & Sewer Main Replacement On Broadway Project <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the Water Main and Sewer Main Replacement On Broadway Project, and <br />authorize the release of bonds and retention. <br />Background <br />As part of Downtown Streetscape Improvements, the water and sewer mains on <br />Broadway required relocation to avoid conflicts with the proposed Palm trees and new <br />median island streetscape improvements. The capacity of the sewer main will also be <br />increased from 8" to 10" to accommodate the future demands in downtown. <br />On September 12, 2005, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the <br />Water and Sewermain Replacement On Broadway Project to Shaw Pipeline, Inc. of San <br />Francisco, California, for the amount of $383,275.00. <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications, for a total cost of $396,179.88. Change Orders were issued totaling <br />$12,904.88, which represents a 3.4% increase above the original contract amount. The <br />changes included removing unforeseen concrete and debris, and re-routing temporary <br />dewatering pipe for the Underground Parking Garage. <br />Alternative <br />Do not accept the Water Main and Sewer Main Replacement On Broadway Project, <br />which would be contrary to prior City Council direction, and would be in violation of <br />Public Contracting Laws. <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Sufficient funds were appropriated from the Water and Sewer Enterprise Funds and <br />from the Capital Projects Fund under the Downtown Utilities Relocation Project. <br />y?'~~ ~~ <br />Brian Lee, P.E.
