Municipal Green Building Policy <br />Effective Date: December 5, 2017 <br />The Board of Supervisors is committed to environmental, economic, and social <br />stewardship through sustainable building practices. <br />The goals of the policy are the following: <br />•Yield cost savings to taxpayers through reduced operating costs <br />•Provide a healthy work environment for County employees and visitors <br />•Contribute to protecting, conserving, and enhancing resources <br />•Support sustainable buildings for San Mateo County <br />•Encourage the construction of LEED® Certified buildings <br />•Elevate the County’s standards beyond LEED® with ambitious energy efficiency targets <br />•Achieve Zero Net Energy for new building construction
