<br />7C <br />Page 10 <br /> <br />Some Specific Accomplishments of 2005: <br /> <br />Every single deptartment-city Manager, City Clerk, City Attorney, Finance, Public Works, <br />Fire, Police, Library, Human Resources, Planning, Redevelopment, Engineering, Building, <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services made the following accomplishments happen: <br /> <br />1. Community involvement and engagement: community meetings on gangs, budget, <br />priorities and soon tree preservation and sidewalks. <br /> <br />2. Downtown is being renewed and revitalized. In 2005 the city's new underground <br />parking garage was completed and the retail cinema complex began to take shape. <br />Work began on our Courthouse plaza and streetscape. <br /> <br />3. Spinas Park and the Schaberg branch library were completely renovated and reopened. <br /> <br />4. Successful sale of$35m in bonds to finance the first phase of the City's Recycled <br />Water Project to ensure future water resources. <br /> <br />5. The Ralston/lOt Interchange is close to being finished on schedule and within budget. <br /> <br />6. The increased gang activity has been tackled head on with community involvement, <br />education, intervention and increased resource allocation. During the summer and fall <br />of 2005, 88 arrests were made in RWC and 194 through the county gang task force. <br /> <br />7. Our PAL program tops 3500 in membership and our PD continues to provide School <br />Resource Officer. <br /> <br />8. The City instituted a very successful picnic reservation system, expanded after school <br />activities at 9 schools serving 900 children and keeps us dancing and relaxing at their <br />summer concert series <br /> <br />9. Our Fire Department (FD) has 2 of the 3 most active fire response stations in the <br />County and effectively dealt with over 6500 incidents in 2005. <br /> <br />10. Our library is constantly making improvements. self-check out kiosks, dynamic <br />programs and collaboration with its Friends and Foundation <br /> <br />11. Our Fire Dept. in cooperation with Parks Recreation Community Services (PRCS) <br />offered a Junior Fire Academy to 26 kids between the ages of 11-16 <br /> <br />12. Our Community Development Services dept. (CDS) has made available a version of <br />GIS mapping at the front counter in City Hall <br /> <br />13. IT dept. worked with finance dept. in installing a new phone system that uses Internet <br />technology and Police IT and City IT completed a successful integration <br /> <br />14. PRCS received a 243K state grant from the Commission on Developmental <br />Disabilities and the fire dept. rec'd 87K in private grants and 290K in federal grants <br /> <br />._.. ...... ......-...-.---...-.-.-..
