<br />roadway landscape customers in the western areas of Redwood Shores. The first project <br />(Bid Package 1) was awarded on February 13th of this year. As the name of this project <br />infers, the work is part of the above-mentioned Distribution System construction <br />component of the Recycled Water Project. It consists of the installation of the main <br />transmission piping system in Redwood Shores along Marine Parkway, Oracle Parkway, <br />Twin Dolphin Drive, and Shoreline Drive. More than 15,000 feet of PVC pipe ranging in <br />size from 8 to 14 inches in diameter, will be constructed in approximately eight months. <br /> <br />The eight (8) bids received at the bid opening on February 22, 2006, are summarized <br />below: <br /> <br />No. Bidder Bid Amount <br />1. Woods Construction, Inc. is 11 % lower than the <br />Engineer's estimate of $3,500,000.00 for the cost of construction. Based upon the bids <br />received, staff believes that the low bid of $3,124,000.00 is reasonable and responsive, <br />and recommends awarding the contract to K.J. Woods Construction, Inc. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Do not award the contract for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Phase I - <br />Redwood Shores Distribution System - Bid Package 2 (Marine Parkway, Oracle Parkway, <br />Twin Dolphin Drive, Shoreline Drive) Project, which would be contrary to prior Council <br />action. <br /> <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The Water Financing Plan - 2006 Update was approved by the City Council on January <br />23, 2006, concurrent with the Council's authorization to issue a second series of Water <br />Revenue Bonds to finance the construction of Phase One of the Recycled Water Project. <br />Bond proceeds in the estimated amount of $23,500,000 will be deposited into the project <br />Trustee Account in the first week of March, 2006.
