Director of agency charged with state-mandated and charter- <br />mandated task of investigating allegations of police misconduct and neglect of duty in the San <br />Francisco Police Department and with recommending discipline to chief of police. Managed <br />agency with nearly $1,5 million budget responding to approximately 1000 complaints per year. <br />Significantly reduced backlog of uncompleted investigations. Responsibilities included: <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Supervising the investigatory findings of allegations of police misconduct and presenting those <br />findings to members ofthe command staff of the San Francisco Police Department. <br /> <br />. Recommending changes in policies and procedures at the San Francisco Police Department. <br /> <br />. Making weekly presentations to Police Commission, including presentations of goals and <br />objectives. <br /> <br />. Meeting with mayor, members of the Board of Supervisors, other department heads and public <br />officials. <br /> <br />. Making public presentations to community groups. <br /> <br />. Preparing annual and periodic reports and submitting reports to Board of Supervisors and Police <br />Commission, including making presentation of reports at public meetings. <br /> <br />. Acting as appointing authority in making hiring, discipline, and tennination decisions. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Establishing policies and procedures, <br /> <br />. Directing management team. <br /> <br />. Preparing annual and supplemental budget and presenting budget requests to Board of <br />Supervisors and Police Commission. <br /> <br />. Working with city Department of Real Estate in tennination of lease of office space and <br />relocating to a new leased facility, including design and completion of build-out office space. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Meeting with vendors and ordering computer LAN system for office. <br /> <br />Deputy District Attorney, County of Santa Clara, August 1980-June 1995. Prosecuted fifty jury <br />trials, including cases of attempted murder, gang-related robbery, child abuse with great bodily <br />injury, and felony domestic violence. Handled hundreds of misdemeanor pretrial conferences, <br />suppression motions, juvenile trials, and preliminary examinations. Assigned to specialized units <br />handling citizen complaints and reviewing cases. Handled felony and administrative assignments at <br />Palo Alto branch facility.
