APPENDIX <br />Site 01:Winslow Street <br />Opportunities <br />• Adjacency to Cal train station and new mixed-use development <br />• Inside city core <br />• Location has potential to expand downtown core <br />• Medium-size scale will accommodate a variety of activities and <br />character. <br />Site Summary <br />The connection of the site to transit lines and public plaza space is <br />a positive attribute, yet there are few "eyes on the street' here, with <br />SMENT 5 FEASIBILITY STf6ff' phi es surrounding the site closing after business hours. <br />This site is surrounded by mainly retail, commercial, and office <br />buildings, which can contribute to its success during the day, and <br />possibly at night. This Site is centrally located, and near a hub <br />of activity in the Downtown Core. Its location could also serve as <br />VII SITE ASSESSMENT <br />Opportunities and Constraints <br />Constraints <br />• Blank adjacent frontage to North (no eyes on street) <br />• Winslow Street edge has limited pedestrian activity <br />• Displaces downtown parking <br />• Potential elimination of up to 46 parking spaces. <br />• Competing city development needs (ie, affordable housing <br />development) <br />an anchor to the adjacent mall and transit line, creating a new <br />destination within downtown. <br />133 <br />Although there is no housing or active frontage immediately <br />surrounding this site, it has some adjacency to active frontages that <br />could potentially activate the site if it were programmed correctly (ie, <br />adjacent restaurant opening to park). <br />
