<br />This is the historic Britschgi house- most of you know it well. Although we all recognize its <br />historic status in this community, it has not been officially designated as such. It is up for sale. <br />And current zoning does nothing to protect it from being torn down. <br /> <br />Clearly, the Mt. Carmel neighborhood is in the cross-hairs of developers. Developers who are <br />making handsome profits at the expense of the current residents, and for the not-yet residents <br />who might have wanted to buy and live in one of the homes I just listed but could not over- <br />come the nearly $200,000-$500,000 over asking offer made by a deep pocket developer. Mark <br />my words, Eagle Hill, Roosevelt, Woodside Plaza, Palm Park….. they’ll be next. The next two <br />tentative agendas for the HRAC include a total of 6 homes (many in the Mt. Carmel <br />neighborhood, but not all) that have pending tear down applications. <br /> <br />We need better design guidelines and FAR and we need them now, so that you can stand by the <br />policies you adopted in the General Plan in 2010 and preserve this neighborhood’s character <br />and its remaining affordable housing stock. <br />Thank you. <br /> <br />
