ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />M/S to Howard/Ira to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances by <br />title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. Mayor Pierce <br />announced that item 6.3.A is removed from consideration at this time. The motion <br />passed by a unanimous roll call vote. <br /> <br />Ann Bers, Manager of Mediation Programs and the Peninsula Conflict Resolution <br />Center (PCRC), announced Mediation Week as March 19-25 acknowledging the <br />volunteer mediators in Redwood City who work with the PCRC. The mission is to <br />promote collaboration and active engagement in the communities and this <br />accomplished through the efforts of the dedicated individuals. Volunteer mediators are <br />actively serving the community by donating their time to help others resolve difficult <br />issues. A minimum of 25 hours training is initially given and after a brief mentoring <br />period volunteers are qualified to mediate disputes between neighbors, landlords and <br />tenants, businesses and consumers, employers and employees, and parents and <br />teens. These volunteers also facilitate group meetings and help build skills for public <br />participation. She read a letter of acknowledgement from Governor Schwarzenegger. <br /> <br />6.1 Section - Motions - <br /> <br />A.
