5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR - . CITY COUNCIU <br />REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br />M/S Foust/Howard to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances <br />by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items. The <br />motion passed by a unanimous roll call vote by those present with Council <br />Member Bain absent. <br />Sandy Paoli stated that the Redwood City School District was gracious to sponsor her <br />for the Redwood City /SMC Chamber leadership program of which she is a 2005 <br />graduate. She stated that during that program she was exposed to many opportunities <br />within the City of Redwood City. During graduation, Vice Mayor Foust was the speaker <br />exuding excitement and encouragement to find what one is passionate about. She <br />stated that her passion is around safety and preparedness so she followed through <br />with the community emergency response team class that San Carlos offers. She <br />talked with Fire Chief Kohlmann who connected her with other concerned citizens and <br />she is pleased that there has been a positive response and interest, core meetings <br />have occurred and the expectation is to present the first proposal and implementation <br />of a community emergency response program beginning in September. <br />Cherlene Wright thanked all for attending the Redwood City Education Gala this year. <br />She stated that she is pleased to report that over $55,000. has been raised and that it <br />was a successful event due to the fact that Council Members supported and <br />participated in various ways. <br />Stacey Wagner, representing the Redwood City /San Mateo County Chamber of <br />Commerce, announced that Thursday, March 30 is Good Morning Redwood City at <br />the Sequoia Club, the program being the Downtown Update, Parks for the Future, and <br />a Redwood City real estate update. The second announcement is that the 37 Annual <br />Progress Seminar is almost to capacity registration and will be held on April 7 -9. <br />Anyone wishing to register should contact the Chamber. <br />Vice Mayor Foust thanked both speakers Sandy Paoli and Cherlene Wright stating on <br />behalf of her colleagues that it is appreciated when they hear that programs such as <br />those mentioned are appreciated in the community. <br />6.1 Section — Motions - <br />A.
