EXHIBIT A: SCOPE OF WORK INFORMATION
Redwood City Ferry Project
Sponsoring Agency:
Lead/Implementing Agency:
City of Redwood City
City of Redwood City
Contact: Christopher Dacumos, Management Analyst II
650.780.5957
cdacumo s(&,,redwoodcity. org
1017 Middlefield Road
Redwood City
Project Description and Scope of Work:
The Redwood City Ferry Project seeks to create a mid -peninsula transit hub, which will be the
southernmost terminal in the San Francisco Bay Ferry system. The first phase in the Project is to
conduct a Financial Feasibility Study (Study) and Cost Benefit Analysis (Analysis), which will
assist in determining whether new ferry service to Redwood City is viable. If the Study and
Analysis conclude that new ferry service to Redwood City is viable, the City and the Port of
Redwood City (Port) will consider moving forward with developing a Business Plan which will
outline the steps of constructing a terminal and beginning new ferry service.
The ferry service seeks to help alleviate congestion along the US -101 corridor and provide an
additional transportation alternative. Origin and destination points for the possible ferry service
will include San Francisco and the East Bay. The terminal will be located on Port right-of-way.
Ferry service will be provided by the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (WETA).
Initial service will be during weekday commute periods. As the service matures, midday,
evening, weekend and special event service could be introduced. The ferry is anticipated to make
a trip from the Redwood City terminal to San Francisco in under an hour.
Initial conceptual studies were completed in 2007 by the Port and WETA. The initial concept for
the Project described a terminal and landside facilities, which included:
-A single float capable of loading two vessels at once
-300 parking spaces
-Long-term bike storage, and
-Curb space for last mile shuttle connections
Since those studies were first completed in 2007, housing and employment characteristics
throughout the mid -peninsula have changed and as a result the potential ferry terminal and
landside facilities may change.
REV: 08-31-I8 PR
San Mateo County Transportation Authority/City of Redwood City
Redwood City Ferry Project
14740234.2
