The legal status of floating homes at Docktown Marina
According to the State Lands Commission
the agency responsible for the land they occupy
The Chair, Betty Yee and Executive Officer, Jennifer Lucchesi,
speaking at the 6/21/18 State Lands Commission meeting
(during Public Comments, in response to Docktown residents who had just spoken)
http://cal-sp an.org/unipage/?site=cal-span&owner=CSLC&date=2018-06-21 &mode=large
Time Stamp: 3:10:24-3:11:44 [1 minute and 20 seconds]
Betty Yee: "Jennifer, help me here. [Jennifer = Executive Officer of State Lands Commission]
I feel like, I really appreciate the updates, because obviously it's a very, very difficult
and frustrating situation.
On the other hand, I want to be sure the conversations are taking place with
the right parties.
I know that we had encouraged a legislative resolution that did not work well.
[addressing Alison Madden, a Docktown resident who had just spoken]
I'm hoping you're keeping your legislators in the loop ...
And you're certainly engaging the City.
I believe that the Commission's role in this is pretty minimal —
aside from encouragement.
Is that appropriate?"
[Question directed to Jennifer Lucchesi, Executive Officer of State Lands Commission]
Jennifer Lucchesi: "Right, Right. That is correct.
We don't have any direct leasing jurisdiction over the tidelands and submerged lands
at Dockown. Those lands have been granted to the City.
However, we are able to provide technical support and advise,
which we did with legislative representatives back when a legislative solution
was being sought.
We stand by, ready to help in that role as well, in the event that your legislative
representatives and the City are willing to move forward along those lines."
Transcribed by bernier, InterfaithPeaceCoalition@gmail.com (650) 222-6361
