6.13. - Page 52 of 366 <br />City's rules and procedures for making public records available and after payment of <br />reasonable costs, if any, where applicable. <br />3A Dues Deductions <br />The Association may have the regular dues of its members deducted from the employees' <br />paychecks. It shall be the responsibility of the Association to maintain a record of employees <br />who haveiq ven_ their written consent to loin and pay dues to the Association. The <br />Association shall annually certify to the City the amount of such payroll deductions to be <br />deducted. If a deduction amount changes mid -year, the Association shall certify to the City <br />the new amount prior to the City's implementation of the change. <br />Payroll deductions shall be for an amount specified by the Association and uniform as <br />between employee members of the Association and shall not include fines or fees. <br />Amounts deducted and withheld by the City shall be transmitted to the officer designated in <br />writing by the Association as the person_ authorized to receive such funds, at the address <br />specified. <br />The employee's earnings must be sufficient after all other required deductions are made to <br />cover the amount of the deductions herein authorized, When an employee is in a non -pa <br />status for an entire Pay period,no deductions will be made to cover that pay period. In the <br />case of an employee who is in a non- ay status during a part of the pay period,and the <br />salary is not sufficient to cover the full withholding, no deduction shall be made. In this <br />connection, all required deductions have priority over the Association deduction. <br />The Association hereby agrees to indemnify, defend and hold the City harmless against any <br />claim made and against any suit initiated against the City on account of check off of <br />Association dues. In addition, the Association shall refund to the City any amount paid to it <br />in error upon presentation of supporting evidence. <br />3.5 New Employee Orientation <br />The City shall provide the Association with ten (10) calendar days' advance notice of the <br />start date of any new hire to a represented classification. An exception to the ten (10) <br />calendar days' advance notice requirement may be made is if there is an urgent need for <br />meeting in less than ten (10) calendar days' that is critical to the City's opemtions and is not <br />reasonably foreseeable. <br />The City shall provide the Association with an exclusive thirty (30) minute meeting with any <br />new employee or group of employees covered by this MOU, during the City -scheduled <br />employee orientation. The specific date, time, and location of the one (1) hour Association <br />meeting with new employees will be coordinated_ by the Fire Chief and the President of the <br />Association. <br />The City and Association acknowledge that this Agreement, once implemented by both <br />Parties, fully complies with and exhausts the Parties, obligation to negotiate pursuant to <br />Government Code Section 3557, <br />1 3.6 No Strike <br />71 <br />
