6.A. - Page 1 of 4 <br />/<;i1111k <br />Redwood <br />CitylCallifornia <br />wended 1967 <br />\low <br />DATE: December 3, 2018 <br />SUBJECT <br />STAFF REPORT <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br />Final Acceptance - Red Morton Park Magical Bridge Playground Electrical Service Relocation Project <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />By motion, accept the Red Morton Park Magical Bridge Playground Electrical Service Relocation Project, <br />increase the contract amount to a total of $141,836.90, and authorize the release of bonds and <br />retention according to City procedures <br />STRATEGIC INITIATIVE <br />Community for All Ages <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Magical Bridge Playground will replace the existing playground at Red Morton Park that was <br />completed in 1999. The renovation project will make the park facilities within the project area compliant <br />with new code requirements and will improve the play value of the playground and the adjacent picnic <br />area. <br />On October 23, 2017, City Council awarded the construction contract for the Magical Bridge Playground <br />Electrical Service Relocation Project to NBC Construction of San Francisco. The project was awarded for <br />a base bid of $127,788.00, and the City Manager was authorized to increase the contract amount, if <br />necessary, up to 10% of the amount awarded not to exceed $140,566.80. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The project was successfully completed in accordance with City specifications. Two contract change <br />orders totaling $14,048.90 were issued for quantity adjustments and unforeseen conditions in the <br />existing electrical system.
