6.2A
Page 1
REPORT
April 24, 2006
Subject
Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2006-2007 for the Seaport Centre Maintenance
District, Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District, and the Redwood Shores
Landscape Maintenance District 1995-1.
Recommendation
Adopt three (3) separate resolutions:
1. Ordering the Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2006-07 for the Seaport
Centre Maintenance District in the amount of $187,000.00;
2. Ordering the Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2006-07 for the Seaport
Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District in the amount of $212,500.00, and
3. Ordering the Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2006-07 for the Redwood
Shores Landscape Maintenance District 1995-1 in the amount of $177,976.10.
Background
These three, relatively small Assessment Districts have annual assessments
amounting anywhere from $178,000 to $213,000. The Seaport Centre Maintenance
District and the Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District were established
in 1987, and the Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance District was formed in
1995. The Districts were formed to pay for the maintenance of facilities that were
determined to be above and beyond the normal level of maintenance that is required
in the fest of the City (i.e., stormwater pump stations, sewage pump stations, levee
systems, and extra landscaping).
This is an annual authorization required to enable taxes to be levied and collected,
through the San Mateo County Tax Controller and Collector's Office. Both the
Seaport Centre Maintenance and the Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance
Districts are in the second year of their approved five-year budgets. The Redwood
Shores Landscape Maintenance District was formed with an automatic escalation
clause based on labor costs. This year the maximum adjustment of 3.5% is being
applied.
The approved budgets, assessments and City Manager's Report are available for
review in the City Engineer's Office.
