<br /> 6.28 <br /> Page 1 <br /> REPORT <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From the Ci Mana er <br /> April 24, 2006 <br /> Subject <br /> Approval of Program Supplement No. M002 - Surface Transportation Program (STP) <br /> Recommendation <br /> Adopt a resolution approving and authorizing execution of Program Supplement No. <br /> M002 to the State Master Agreement for funding under the Surface Transportation <br /> Program (STP), to rehabilitate and resurface selected City streets. <br /> Background <br /> Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) has set aside Federal STP funding, <br /> under the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA 21) and the TEA 21 <br /> Restoration Act Program, to assist local jurisdictions with roadway pavement <br /> rehabilitation and preventative maintenance projects to extend the service life of <br /> existing local roadway facilities. <br /> On October 25th 2004, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 14613, authorizing the <br /> filing of an application for Federal STP funding (FY 2005-2006 and 2006-2007) to be <br /> used towards the rehabilitation and resurfacing of the following City streets: <br /> 1. Whipple Avenue - Veterans Boulevard to EI Camino Real <br /> 2. Industrial Way - Whipple Avenue to the City Limit <br /> 3. Alameda de las Pulgas - Eaton Avenue to De Anza Avenue <br /> The City's application has been approved by MTC, and STP funds in the amount of <br /> $365,000 have been allocated to the City. <br /> In order for the State Department of Transportation - Division of Local Assistance to <br /> encumber and obligate this funding, the City is required to enter into the subject <br /> Program Supplement, to provide an authorizing resolution identifying the project and <br /> the official authorized to execute this Supplement. <br /> If approved and authorized by Council, staff's goal is to start construction this summer, <br /> A copy of the Master Agreement is available for review in the City Clerk's office. <br /> Alternatives <br /> Do not approve and authorize execution of Program Supplement No. M002, <br /> consequently forfeiting the available funding.
